Twitter is testing a new feature that adds an "original tweeter" tag to tweets in a thread, allowing users to easily distinguish tweets from the original account at a glance, as reported by TechCrunch.

The new feature - which is supposed to be available for a "small percentage" of iOS and Android users, is extremely simple in its execution. It adds a gray "original tweeter" label under the user's name, similar to the status indicators that the company began testing earlier this month.

Although this will probably not have a dramatic effect on the daily experience of the site on most Twitter users, this should be useful for communications with larger personalities. Parodic accounts and scammers with names and similar photos tend to clutter the comments of high-level users, which can make it difficult to decipher the real answer of a troll who is trying to scam Bitcoin.

It remains to be seen whether Twitter plans to deploy the new tags to more users or if the current design will eventually be the final implementation of the format, but at least the company is working to solve the problem of clarity.
