STRONG POINTS

  • Nokia 1 Plus will feature a MediaTek quad-core SoC.
  • The future smartphone will have 1GB of RAM.
  • Prices and launch details are not known.

HMD Global has scheduled an event on February 24 in Barcelona where the company is expected to launch the flagship product Nokia 9 PureView. In addition to the high-end offer, it seems that Nokia is also preparing to launch an entry-level smartphone in the form of the Nokia 1 Plus. Supposed restitution of the future smartphone has been disclosed alongside its specifications, revealing entry-level hardware, such as 1GB of RAM, a MediaTek SoC and a low-resolution display. But on the plus side, the Nokia 1 Plus will start Android 9 Pie and should run the Android 9 Pie (Go edition).

The latest leak from Nokia 1 Plus comes from TigerMobiles and includes a presumed rendering of the future smartphone and some of its main specifications. The rendering suggests that Nokia's future smartphone will have a single front-facing camera and wear thick glasses, which is not surprising given the entry-level status of the smartphone. On the software side, the affordable offer of HMD Global would work with Android Pie ready to use, however, it is unclear whether it will be the Go edition that is usually reserved for low-end smartphones.

Regarding the internal hardware, the Nokia 1 Plus will apparently have a screen with a resolution of 480 x 960 pixels, a format of 18: 9 and a density of 213ppi. However, the size of the screen did reveal. According to the leak, the next Nokia-branded smartphone will be powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6739WW SoC with a parallel PowerVR GE8100 GPU.

According to the report, the Nokia 1 Plus will include 1GB of RAM, but the internal storage capacity and its extent are not known. With regard to cameras, the leak does not provide any information regarding the megapixel number of the Nokia 1 Plus rear and front sensors. In the connectivity department, the Nokia 1 Plus will support dual SIM (Nano), GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, as well as a micro-USB port. The selection of the sensor would be the same as that of the Nokia 1. However, the price details of the Nokia 1 Plus and the planned launch schedule are not yet known.
