The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Hyderabad, will launch a comprehensive B Tech program in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the next academic year (2019-2020). Course admissions will be accepted on the basis of the JEE Advanced score. With this, the institute says it has become the first Indian educational institution to offer a full-fledged B Tech program in AI. IIT-Hyderabad is also the world's third largest institute after the American Carnegie Mellon University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

The course will have about 20 students and admission will be based on the JEE-Advanced score. Taught by the IA Department, IIT-Hyderabad, the program will include the study of computer science department algorithms, signal processing of the electrical engineering department, robotics of the mechanical engineering department and mathematical foundations. .

The course will also cover areas of application such as health care, agriculture, smart mobility, among others.

In addition, according to the Institute, the ethical impact of AI and its technologies on areas such as confidentiality, biases and related issues will also be a key element of this B Tech program.

IIT-Hyderabad already offers an M Tech program in artificial intelligence - Machine Learning and M.Tech. in data science.
