An exit date from the Fortnite viewer mode could be imminent. Epic Games is organizing a private event in Los Angeles in the first week of February. Part of the agenda will include "playing custom games to help test new features and tools of viewers that will be used in future events," according to an Epic Games email sent to YouTuber BluenightEdgar, reported by the Fortnite Fortunate news site. In return for participating in the spectator test sessions, the players received free food and V-Bucks. The number of V-Bucks that would be donated was not revealed. The schedules of events are as follows.

Synchronizing events in Fortnite viewer mode

  • February 4 - 10 am to 5 pm Pacific Time
  • February 5 - 12:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific Time
  • February 6 - 12:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific Time
  • February 7 - 0:00 to 17:00
  • February 8 - 12:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific Time
  • February 11 - 12:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific Time
  • February 12 - 12:00 am to 5:00 pm Pacific Time

The Fortnite Insider report also refers to Lucas Yoshi, a Fortnite publisher, who tweeted an image of what appears to be the game code that mentions a spectator button.

"So it seems that the button" join as a player "is related to the audience? I will look a little further, "wrote in the tweet. This was followed by a second tweet that mentions that it was added to the Fortnite 7.20 update with "> InSpectatorQueueType> PassThrough> SpectateButton> ToggleSpectator".

This feature may only be used for events, although players have asked to see their friends while waiting for the end of a match. In addition, Epic Games may expand the viewer mode for events first and later broadcast it for all users. Let's hope we do not have to wait too long to find out.
